Paul Dufrene Wins Angler of the Year Race

Final Points Standings 

The 2014 Angler of the Year is Cutoff Louisiana pro, Paul Dufrene. Paul used consistency with 2 fourth place finishes and 1 fifth place finish to secure his first ever Angler of the Year Award. *Paul joins the top 10 anglers of the Final Points Standings in qualifying for the 2015 Yellowfin Classic that kicks off the 2015 season in Chalmette, LA..

*Note: by winning the first of 3 opens of the 2014 season, Paul received an automatic bye into the Classic Championship.

Paul thanked his mom and stated, “$10,000.00 for angler of year was awesome, but doing it against some of the best saltwater anglers around is an accomplishment I will always hold dear…thanks to everyone that made it possible”.

Paul weighed in a total of 248.39 pounds of redfish during the 2014 season, had 0 dead fish and took home over $40,000.00 in  cash winnings on his 2 fourth’s and 1 fifth place finish, team of the year award, big bag bonus dollars and his open victory.

All in all a great season for one Paul Dufrene and one that, in his words, he will always remember. Congratulations Paul, it’s obvious by your friends comments and congratulations it was a hard fought, well deserved accomplishment.


Paul starts off the year with a win in the Open event and while there were no points associated with this event, it was his first win on The Redfish Series and kicked off what would become a great season for him.


Dufrene finishes the first Tour Stop of the in 4th place and received 197 points toward the A.O.Y. points race…


In the 2nd Tour Stop, Dufrene lands in 4th place again and gets another 197 points, 2 cuts made in a row…

In the final event of the regular season Paul lands in 5th place and gets a 196 points and captures Angler of the Year…
