The results of day 1 are the final result and Braly and Caron take home the title of Elite Redfish Series champions with a 5 live fish limit weighing in at 35.36 pounds.

In this 2 day tournament that turned into a shortened competition due to small craft advisories and extreme weather conditions Braly and Caron used a quick morning bite on day 1 fishing banks where they located solid 5 – 6 pound fish during their practice period.

A medium speed straight retrieve (much like working a swim bait) was the winning technique and the Berkley Gulp morning glory paddle tail as well as the Berkley Gulp power bait were the lures of choice.

Braly stated that the winning key for his team was a change of color, “our fish were aggressive but when the fish bites did slow down we would simply switch colors on the same lures and the fish would begin to react again”.

Braly went on to say that while their quick limits came on the banks they were working early in the morning, they switched to fishing cuts in the sea grass (hydrilla type underwater foliage) as the tide was moving in and that is when the bigger fish were caught.

Congratulations on a great win Paul and Bartt, quick thinking and being able to fine the pattern within the pattern paid off for this team in the form of a great $10,000.00 check. Next up, the tour makes it’s first stop in the great fishing town of Morgan City, LA. July 12-13 with the next event in the Check It Stik Team Series and the Tidewater Boats Chase for the Championship continues with the Morgan City Madness event.
